    Hi,

I just got myself an IWC portugese at a very good price. If you are looking for one around 5-6k range, do let me know your details and i can refer to you the lobang (from a very reputable watch boutique).

    Cheers!

I paid around +-8k for the brand new portuguese. Most shops out there control IWC's price very tightly, at most 20-25% from the listed $11,100 (25% off means around $8320). So i would have saved a few hundreds off already. The few hundreds could be 1 time servicing already. But even if you can get just an additional 2.5%, you save another $277.5!

                Well worth it.
I understand that all IWC Portuguese models comes in leather straps. Is replacing the straps expensive? Any idea what's the rough order of magnitude? You got the white dial or the silver dial? Personally, I find the white one more chio

last question. Are IWC watches hand made or machine mass produced???

From the little knowledge i have with IWC, Portuguese range comes only in straps. I did not ask about how much it will be to change the strap though.

Talking about straps, the Portuguese doesnt comes in a clasp like JLC but the normal buckle type. So you have to be very careful when you wear the watch. We tend to 'drag' the buckle to undo the hook so it will damage the leather surface after some time... i guess that is inevitable, only thing we can do is to be very gentle.

I like the one with dark blue hands, dial arabic numericals and also blue croco, so it comes only in whitel dial.

IWC is handmade lah... at least that is what they say.. haha.

is it a butterfly clasp aka fold on both sides or folding buckle. this is because i find butterfly clasp takes awhile to get used to

handmade? i attended the IWC course where they teach you how to strip and assemble movements last month.

i spoke to the watch makers. assembly is very much by hand. some parts are mass produced. while others are hand made.

anyway that class is very informative and eye opener

Was the course conducted in Singapore? I browsed through iwc.com. Seems like the case are machine manufactured and ya, only assembly is done by hand.

The other thing that impresses me about IWC is they claim that they have spare parts for any IWC watch, can be dated as far back to their founding since 1868. In fact, IWC keeps records of all watches leaving IWC, their s/n, model no, manufactured yr, AD, etc. Pay a small premium and it's said that they can help you to trace any IWC watch that is at least 10yrs old.

                            Impressive
