  • Noisy counterweight

    Hi there,

I never owned a automatic watch before and recently got a IWC portofino automatic. I can hear the counterweight spining sound when i shake the watch. Was wondering if this is normal for an IWC .

    Please advice

Is your portofino a chrono? If yes, it's normal for a Valjoux 7750 movement. The rotor movement can be felt quite strong. People call it the famed "Valjoux wobble"

If your portofino is not a chrono (probably based on ETA 2892-A2), it won't wobble much and I can hardly feel the rotor movement.

Btw, if you put yr watch near yr ear and shake it, of course you will hear the rotor spinning. It's normal

u shud try it on the Breitlings... used to own a Chronomat that houses a 7750/1, when u spin the watch, u can really feel the movement doing top spin inside the case, like a really powerful hoola hoop going round and round.. haha..
