    Hi all bros and sis!
My maiden posting here as a watch newbie/blur sotong etc

Anyway, thing is this: my other half is offering to get me a watch for the abovementioned budget.

I've looked around a bit, and din realise there can be so many brands of watches around!

I'm looking for something not too chunky, simple enough for daily use and of cos with a bit of the wow factor.

The IMC Mk XVI looks great though!! Not sure how much...
The ingenieur series look great too, but prob out of budget.

    Anyway, can anyone help me?

can consider brand new pieces, sinn U1 or U2. great tool watch. for rolex, can consider the explorer I. also if u intend to flip watches, then u got to be quite careful what u brand u choose. some brands' watches tend to have a lower resale value. choose wisely.

                      Advice

Not that I am good enough to give but just my opinion. You should read up a little from this forum and walked around shops to make a choice. Most, if not all brands, are not too bad. It's the looks and price that must appeal to you first and foremost. And for that kinda' money, try to squeeze a little bit more extra if can, and get a new ROLEX watch. It is a watch that you should own ULTIMATELY, be it the looks, prestige, branding, resale worth, etc-etc.

From experience, I regretted to only "come to my senses" long after I started knowing this forum, before I actually realised what I'd really wanted. I've bought a few watches and only then, did I realise what I actually wanted. Though I still love my collection, I really hope to press the rewind button, and to start afresh.

Hope I can help here. Thanks for reading.

                          Hi, tks for the advice.
The more I look around, the more I dunno what I want! Too many choices.
It's tks to ppl like u to give some thoughtful advice.

But it's always good to ask advice from ppl in the know. At least I know what to look out for.

Browsing the forums here has helped a great deal.
I'll look around a bit more, and hopefully can ask more relevant qns.

My 2 cents: Buy what u like. Dont go buying a watch simply because many members here strongly recommend. Dont go buying a watch simply because it has the best resale value. You must like the watch and u must be wearing it. Shop around and see what appeals to u within your budget. Short list a few and perhaps we can help u narrow down to the one watch.
