is it safe to let the chrono function run 24hrs non stop?
    wil it spoil the watch?

i prefer seeing the second hand move

if i'm not wrong, the seconds hand is the middle chrono. The outer longest hand is the split second hands. This is chronograph function. Expert out there, correct me if i 'm wrong.

generally its better to not let the chrono run continuously.

        hope this helps

there is no split seconds function on the pilot's chrono 371701.

only the top gun 46mm and the spitfire doppel (44mm) has the split second function in the IWC pilots range of watches

would running the watch in chrono mode continuously damage the internals?

it will not damage, but you would increase the 'wear and tear' of the watch components, meaning shorten the service interval

generally 5-7 years is a reasonable interval......

perhaps by running the chronograph continuously might require twice as frequent......

someone from another forum posted a reply from an authorised IWC service centre on the same exact question..... they recommended a 2 years service interval....
the hype is true. listen at your own risk.

                    ~5 years is OK.

if you check with richemont service center they have a estimated fixed cost table for most simple watches. i cant remember exactlywhat the chrono would cost but all the split seconds chronos will cost $630 and the perpetual calendars ~$1350 for service.

super complication are quoted on demand and all the really old stuff must be send back to factory, usually 4 digit service cost and up to 26 weeks turnaround.

                    hope this helps
