  • Tao sa piah (豆沙餅) fans unite!

Having just finished my second box (40 pcs til date; 120pcs left in the fridge), i thought i better share my experiences on finding a decent 豆沙餅/馬蹄酥.

Personally, i have never been a 馬蹄酥 person, but 馬蹄酥 from any of the two stalls listed below is sure to get my mouth drooling and looking forward to afternoon tea, even better if piping hot from the oven.

Out of the many shops in sg and malaysia, i have narrowed it down to the following that i deem to be worth trying.

    singapore:
    tan hock seng
    86 telok ayer street
rating: 4/5 (the piah is excellent, but sometimes the couple got attitude problem, this time i didnt encounter, but i did encounter on my previous trip to town.)

    malaysia:
    jing yuan biscuit and bakery
#45-D Jalan Ong Kim Wee, Melaka
    HP: 012 712 7905

rating: 5/5. til date i havent tasted better, even the renowned penang tan bun piah dont stand a chance.

jing yuan also has the chicken floss 豆沙餅, as well as the tan bun piah.

Anyone got any stalls that specialising in tao sa piah/beh teh soh (豆沙餅/馬蹄酥) dont be shy to share.

+1 for this shop. I only eat tsp exclusively from here. The rest just don't cut it. Best is ask for those fresh from the oven then eat on the same day. Crispy pastry, eat with kopi or milo is damn shiok. I only finished up a whole box while watching tv.

Yes, definitely Loong Fatt. There are any wannabe shops selling tau sar piah along Balestier but nothing I've tried beats theirs.
