no lah, still thinking... hahhaa... was actually thinking of those sportfishing boat tht's abt 28'...sell used is always a problem, spore jst dont hv the market for it, also lugi alot.
anyway, .. usually i spend at least 1k per month on fishing leow... my gears alot..hahhaa... was thinking, maybe get boat can go local offshore...hahaa , see how first, family man mah, got 3 kids, get leow also able for them to enjoy too, but the youngest 1 only 6mths nia, so now not right time.
anyway, if u all looking for boats hor, let me know, certain brand i got kang tao, can get at least 20 to 25% off USA retail price
if u ask me, i will tell u not to buy a boat....just not worth it. unless mr pet got money to throw away lah. then just tell me where u going to throw ur money, i believe the whole gang will follow u.
Yeah man, initially damn onz go boating/fishing very frequently. After awhile, catch not so good, troublesome, petrol expensive, nobody keen, end up boat most of the time boat will be under-utilised. Eventually, end up selling at a big lost.
However, if pet really too much $$ to burn hor.... I don't share contributing the petrol cost to some fishing and partying of mei mei out at sea...
Money better spent buying us Martells at some ktv right...? Tio bo Andrew? Haha
wah pet, you si bei happening lah... toll "skirts" behind your boat ah... toll them out high seas then can do your thing liao lor... can chut all your pattern liao.
"shout until throat sore also got nobody to save you" kinda thing... .....

tht was sometime ago, thn.. not so many CMM ... hehee
basically do some skiing nia...back thn top up fuel, the most 150.. now i think 350 dunno enough or not. sometimes we wll drive to the northern part of ubin, they used to hv a restuarant there ( hut )... we berth at 'kelong' jetty and go in for lunch/ break.
actually thinking of getting another boat, this time more for fishing thn those cruiser or ski boat ( anyway, too fat to ski also, i think i go half round, leg soft leow )... hahaa .. still thinking hard leh, maybe wait another yr or 2, maybe next wk strike toto, can consider leow ... hahaaa
owning it not too bad, berth ( 20' - 24' ) ard $300, insurance & maint ave out abt 250- 300/ month... still managable... for abt 600/ mth... but the fuel going to cost a bomb...
owning a 2L car also quite close, season park ( if u work in cbd, 1 mth park fees 300-400 leow ), rd tax/ insurance another ave of abt 300 per month; Plus erp, coupon and maint etc.

"skirts" = bikini clad char bor thats being toll behind the boat. machim like the real skirts that is being use for big game trolling.
yup....i am one of them who lure at tekong waterbreaker at night. but that was like 2 yrs ago. now no boat cannot go. can u check if u can find the charter boat again? we can cheong one of the nite.
Okie, i will check with my friend again. Will update you guys again.
petrol will kill u if the outboard engine is a petrol guzzler. my first boat is a 140hp and one trip to changi water cost 100 plus easily. my second boat not too bad, bought a 40hp yamaha outboard, so much cheaper, less than 50 bucks.
other things that factor into owning a boat is the repair to the boat and engine, regular servicing, berthing charges easily cost 200 plus. and many more.
let mr van find the charter boat, we go lure fishing....hunting for grouper along the waterbreaker is fun......van know what i am talking abt.
still cheaper thn a 2 litre car ... hahhaa... except the petrol loh... hahaha
i used to hv a 23footer cuddy cabin, but use it more for skiing thn fishing.. 280hp I/O .. hee... can top to almost 100kmh... ha
too bad i also no boat boat, if not can go try, very long time no go tht prt leow.
own and maintain say a 20 to 25' boat cheap cheap ( cheaper thn a 2litre car - considering erp, season parking, coupon, rd tax, insurance, maint etc ) .. but now petrol ( for boat ) will kill....
cannot wait for fish to come lah... hahhaa... tht's why ppl lure or change spot or use fish finder etc... hahaha .. if pond worst, 3 hrs must up leh..
short butt i cannot, if fish too big, butt not resting properly on the side of my forearm, boh lark...
changi area, never fish there for long long long time leow... lost.
Sound more like kaisu singaoporean mentally. Hahaha... Me go pond more relax, go outside then more hardworking abit. Not like pre-army day, cheong like nobody business, until drop into sea also not scare.
Usually, i juz "cha" on my beer belly to fight the fish. Hahaha...
tekong waterbreaker was good....and i mean it. sometimes when 3 of us got out for 4 hrs of lure fishing along the 2 water breaker, can get easily 20 plus grouper, some big some small. and some is one way ticket....line just go out and out and then 'piak'. i really missed those day of lure fishing. u got lobang to rent small boat out again? so far, all my lobang r bum-boat. too big to go beside the rocks.
Yeah, i know of a group of pple who is still luring at tekong water breaker, mostly at night. I'm not surprised bcoz that what happen over at punggol/seletar side too, still got barras and MJ too. I can check with my friend for the lobang. The boat we rent usually are 15-20ft only, max 4-5pax, can go real close to the breakers.
Wah, another "gu tek" to "zhang" the "gu" out of the home ah... Relax lah bro, must wait for the fish to come to you mah... Sound familar?
Both are good rods. I'm sure you will enjoy using them.
Bassterra is another versatile rod. Break? I will heartache one when my rods break, worse got once my rod flew into the water all thanks to the stupid barra. Left my rod to help my friend take picture of his fish.
Same here, my grip also varies with both hands. Can cast with both hands but not as accurate and far with left. But generally, i prefer rods with short butt.
Baitcasting: Cast right hand, hold rod on left, crank on right.
Spinning: Cast right hand, hold rod on right, crank on left.

maybe we have the same 14-25 rod. i bought the blank from sabre and my friend built all my g-loomis rod for me free of charge. i just need to buy the cock and the guide. and yes, we really need super-stiff rod to hunt for grouper. i used to have a small boat and my fishing kaki will take the boat out to the water breaker along tekong and lure for groupers and the catch rate was really very very good. i missed all those days. but now i sold off my boat....so no more grouper hunting.
my finger very stiff....so still prefer using spinning rod for pond fishing....hehe.
I got my blanks from Hock Heng, bought the materials and my friend build for me too (FOC). Regret selling away some of my spare blanks then, nowadays hard to find liao. Haiz...
From my last updates, tekong water breakers still producing good results. However, sure cannot compare to the old days. Shiok lah when you have own boat, exclusive fishing ground where most cannot access. My friends and I used to rent boat from SAF yault club to troll and cast for groupers at Punggol and Seletar islands too. FUN!!
My frd jst called me, NNB, just got himself a xzoga 4'6" rod 8-16lbs ( special pc tht a tackle shop indent ), good for 'kelong', bun ka to bull fight the fish outta obstacle. ask me 1 to getZ or not, also ask to go fish tonight; would love to, i really buay tong leow, rather relax abit and sg-roc.. hee...
my frd tell me the st croix good brand loh, so try try, was looking for a in between 5.5 & 6'
i email over to order the gloomis... hahaha
usually i use shimano bassterra, light/stiff/long butt..hee..some rods the butt not long enough i dont like cos, of my grip... see below pic:
Other thn bassterra, those 4'+ to 6' include, loomis & franklin, omfer, abu, shakespeare etc.. all quite inexpensive, fish up happy, break nevermind.. hahhaa
i cast with right hand, reel with right hand to, hold rod fight fishy with left hand. Use to it, cant change leow... hahhaa
thn hor my grip on left hand & right hand different... see pic. If i grip like the one in the pic, normal butt lenght ok, but i grip left hand with reel arm between index & middle finger, so need a longer butt so butt end can rest nicely on side of my forearm.
i never actually notice my difference in left & right hand grip til recently.....whn tokin with frd abt rod building and buying new rod....hahaa

Yupz, you are right. Gotto match the gears to the target fish. Then got more excuse to buy more gears.
The newer St. Croix look nice but i have never tried. Seem like more expensive than Gloomis too, esp if you are customising it.
Wow!! Thats very fast of you!! Afternoon mentioned, so fast order liao ah...
I guess you will slowly phase out all these gears. That happen to me after my first Gloomis.
Catch sotongs on your TP trips? To catch bigger ang chors?
