although young, that guy is still a drug trafficker bringing harm to others for his own profit. that to me..not a scape goat. what makes you guys think it was his first time?? isit not for easy money that drove him to traffic?? he knows the law and chose to challenge it..sympathise, yes.. i'm not saying he does not deserve a pardon..anyway, its out of our hands..but we should stop painting a picture of how young and innocent he is.

also, its not just about the amount of drugs he brought in. you guys have to look at the bigger picture..its not jus about the drugs, robbers, snatch theft, robbing of the elderly, getting high and committing rape, getting into fights etc these are jus some other social problems that the govt have to consider. its a fact that the above mentioned crimes have some been linked to drug addicts

for those who have a good life (enjoying your beautiful timepieces) you will hardly or never see what life those people go through, jus becos the drug problem is somewat contolled in Singapore, we should not get complacent and tink its time to start sounding like angels..

Indeed, young and naive will be led astray, the authorities should go after the mastermind instead of getting this poor scapegoat. Crushing down the mastermind behind the scenes will save more similar boys from being used.

Let's just pray that he is the 1st person to be pardon by our president .
I agree that if its murderer he shld be hang so as to be fair , but for 47grams of heroine , he deserve a 2nd chance .

18 may be young to die by such a tragic end, but I am sorry, if he is off the hook, the system will be tainted and more runners will surface. The world is not as ideal as we hope. It is almost impossible to catch the druglords. We can only slow them down by clipping their wings (runners).

18 may be young and immature, but I still think you still have a brain to think. I hope we can educate our kids using this example, our kids need to know this: We must be responsible for each and every of our decision.

Sadly, sometimes the right decision is a hard decision.

After reading the article serveral times. The whole damn issue is, our President is actually "handicap" (powerless) and the pardon doesnt come directly from him........ the team behind him are the ones who is in-charge.

If i was in charge of the legal system, I would chop one leg, one arm. Whilst death is a major deterrent, you should understand that death by hanging is relatively quick. By increasing the suffering; you create a greater deterrent. Making a "human" (if they are called that), walk, and eat like a dog is the worst type of punishment anyone can endure.

Yes, i agree that death by hanging is the quickest way to punish someone who had did something seriously wrong but no one here is ever in their shoes to understand what they want. they don't only live for themselves, they still have family members and relatives who will be the one who suffer after one is hanged and paid for what one have did wrong.

I agree, I lived in BKK for 3 years before moving to Jakarta in 1990, it was sad to see my friends seek to new lows when getting involved with harder and harder drugs. It was one of the main reasons fo me moving away from Thailand.
