is it true that landed property can be taken by govt for public utilities development? ie. leasehold and not freehold.
as for noisy neighbours, why not play fire against fire. play some music at incredible volumes and see how they like it i dont know how s'poreans manage to have home theatres, but here in perth, if it is too loud, we can be asked to turn it down , luckily I live next to office, and all if good on any night.
play techno or linkin park songs full of vulgarities...

Yes. My neighbouring condo...they took up a portion of their carpark to build the MRT...and guess how much they compensate?
hehehe..now landed properties prices still managable...unlike the crazy prices of condos...esp in the east area..hahaha..so far no regrets getting landed property..hehe..parents happy too...bigger space for them to plant flowers, trees and etc..lolz...only me can no longer get nice pieces of 'poisons' in quite a while....now pondering whether to get the lancer ex or swift..hahahaha..
Definitely Property over car, property in the long run will appreciate, car is depreciated upon u buyin and will do so for e rest of its life it unless its some limited edition sports/vintage cars. Or if there is a choice of cash or car, definitely cash as nothing is more liquid than cash. YMMV.
Also darkie, one thing I have to disagree on e HDB, u mention it is dangerous to get watches like Rolex etc if living in HDB, my take is to be discreet. I rather live in HDB as can save more $$ for watches..hehe YMMV again.

haha..for me i personally find that i prefer landed property than car...becoz i spend more time in house than in car..lol...better to have a comfortable house mah...btw landed property prices still got chance of selling at higher prices becoz land is getting limited in singapore...i used to stay in condo b4 moving to landed...condo u still have to put up with noisy neighbours, overcrowded pool and lots of screaming kids on weekends..hahaha....so landed is my preference for now...
Well...I agree with fei kor kor...
noisy neighbours well that depends la...overcrowded pool well i dun use. screaming kids...yes that's a problem everywhere even at HDBs.
Landed also my preference....but I hope it will be a choice for me hehe
car secondary... cos depreciate sure lose money 1... especially with current gov's policy... whn i first bought a brand new car in the 80s, i make $$ by selling it after a yr usage... but not now
always property over car, I have always loved car (just like you all know i drive many car and race ), but always after property.
given the money, i would love to buy landed property, but in a tight land mass like SG, HDB flat in city area (not common i know), or condo (good location) also will do.
I dont care where i stay, as long as nice, clean, comfy can already.
in perth i never stay in flat/apartment - never experienced that type of life before. only landed property with huge backyard and front yard. some with private swimming pool etc etc. now my place no pool, but sure have gym
even if use all my money and borrow the difference to buy landed property i also dont mind.
landed property is king the bigger the better . Currently I am sitting on 1024SQM of ozzie land, and about ~330SQM of living area , when I am in s'pore, I find it a bit cramped, but that cant be helped considering that sg is so small.
