    my opinion.....

well firstly we are not experts in IP.......

so as to whether a particular watch infringes on any copyright/trademark/patent, it is not for us to judge..... it is for the IP owner to take action.... or if there is any criminal activity, then the law enforcement agencies will know what to do.....

of cos there are a few irrefutable points:

crown protection device is a registered TM
wire loop strap attachment is patented
    black seal is a TM
    and some others.....

officine panerai had taken legal action against RXW ..... and succeeded in doing so....

we can of cos impose self-consorship by banning these controversial watches to be put on sale here.... but who are we to say which part is a TM/patent infringement.........

however, there is a clear difference between a fake and a hommage.......

therefore, sale of fakes is not allowed......

Than we flog it more, because it's clearly alive... Different watches for different people you say. Try posting an add for a fake Rolex on this forum and repeat this statement again, I dare you!

The company that makes these MM (apparently allowed to sell here)

also makes these (NOT allowed to sell here):

I think if you want to sell/trade/discuss replica/fake/copy/homage watches, you do not belong in a brand forum, but are better of here: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum/

Personally... i have to agree partly with TS.

There have been more and more 'homages' coming out recently being the Bell&Ross lookalike. However, if we were to pull all these 'homages' out immediately, seems abit unfair to the sellers.

Will discuss with the mods if we should remove these and set a deadline or what... Thanks for the feedback tho.

Then you should remove the RXW Marina Militare watches from the forum as well.

I think topic starter has a point here. Marina Militare is not a hommage watch as it copies PATENTED parts of Panerai. Even the term Marina Militare is protected (owned by Italian Navy I believe) and only Panerai can use it. Marina Militare watches even names its models Luminor and Radiomir.

I believe that "homage" is just a new word for "copy" and I would feel more comfortable when these watches were not sold on a rolex forum (or any other forum for that matter).

I understand where you are coming from...but really,it's not exactly against the law because they didnt copy with the brand name. So we can allow them to sell. But I realised there has been a surge in the number of watches on sale here.

No worries, the mod team will be monitoring this closely and if this gets out of hand we will remove all sales activities that are related to hommages.

As far as it is now...there aren't Rolex lookalike hommages on sale because it's quite hard to sell also. Brands like Alba,Sandoz etc offer Rolex hommages but so far it hasn't been well recognised la. No demand...luckily...haha

If there are Rolex Hommages I might consider to remove it because this is a Rolex forum at the end of the day.

Whats all these Militare Marina watches doing on the sales forum?

nothing personal against the sellers but ..

These watches are actually the same watches we see alot off on pertaling street in malaysia.. i.e copy watches without the actual brand name on them... just count the threads on these watches... whats next ? rolex lookalike homages ???

is this forum becoming a replica watch forum ??

    my 2 cents worth..

Bros... discussion of this is more like a 'grey' zone... ppl can have different tots... so to some, it may be a replica while others may feel its just a homage...

And another point to note is the world is so big... so the watches may or may not have come from the same factory. However, no one is pointing a gun in your head forcing you to buy right?

Buy only when you are comfortable with the price / design of the MM... there are a few sellers right here in our garage.. So lets all cool it yah.

To prevent further flaming... we'll close this thread now. If anyone feels that this thread should remain open, pls PM me. Thanks.

So the question is...did the watch we purchased from Reach10 really from USA as he stated?
Hi my watches are from US. The world is so big n I did mention that before n I dun wish to explain all these all over again. Pls dun compare my watches with other sellers. Period!

Pls note that only mine comes from US with back case inscripted 'jap movt' n 'Navale' not too sure about others.

A word of fairness, though i claim that most of the MM watches found in Ebay, Malaysia, HK, Taiwan, China are mostly from the MM factory which i visit, i do realise that reach10's watches are a tad different. (Based on his forums posting.. oh yes, must check out my friendly competitors )

So far i have not seen other brand names on the watches. Based on my past experiences, the seller will not entertain such demands anyway.

To be fair to Reach10 or other sellers who say their watches are from elsewhere, it's best to let them clarify their stand. Better not to speculate groundlessly

What estrangable mentioned was also based on his own opinion. Likewise for me. Peace !

It's just like the "have chicken first or have egg first" kind of theory.

The stocks are there, easily 20 over models to choose from. Stocking means pay and buy all 20 models then sit and wait for buyers.

Hmm...not a wise choice agree? Some models may be more popular but again subjective to individual taste, what looks good for you may not be the case for others... some wants black leather, some wants brown.

Even the original MM seller cannot assure me which is more popular haha (Business damn good)

So Why not confirm who wants what, pay and then collect and ship? its not like the MM factory will disappear overnight LOL. Of course of course 100% refund if what the customer orders is out of stock and buyer is not willing to wait.

Selling in the forum is not about setting up a shop, stock-up a good variety and wait for buyers to come in and close a sale. I feel that as long as the seller delivers the goods within the prescribed time according to the request of the buyers, its a good deal. Don't need to bother if the seller got the goods yesterday or the day after. Agree?

Again, in my opinion, i seriously doubt the MM watches are from the states...well i could be wrong. It's just my speculation. i have never indicated that it's a cold hard fact.
