A lot of jap food here in Singapore are over commercialized with some even being wrongly represented, one of which is Sukiyaki

You can check out Ashino at CHIJMES. Very authentic food but at very 'authentic' prices... be prepared to spend upward of $300/pax for dinner. Like all proper sushi establishments, you sit at a counter while the chefs prepare incredibly delicious sushi infront of your eyes. The counter only sits around 10 pax so it's cozy and exclusive. Ashino was previously the head sushi chef at Hide Yamamoto at MBS and now he's running his own joint. If you're willing to spend abit, it's definitely worth a try.

The Omakase 9 course set dinner ($120 per set) is a must try, really nice

Avoid Ajisen at all costs. I had a friend who worked there once, she said they used instant tea and added any amount of salt they like into the ramen dishes!
