    Hi

yes, you have to post to existing threads.

this is because in the past, new registered members want the easy way out by posting new threads which are of repeated content and end up many duplicated threads of same/similar content.

new registered members also posted replies such as up or similar content to threads which has content and other existing members feedback that they had to scroll through pages of posts which has just up.

as such, they suggested that new registered members be only allowed to posts in certain sections and certain threads.

you were directed to read 2 threads, one of which is advisory for members which advises members which sections to post. there is a title heading in red which clearly indicates where user can post replies.

you are not restricted to posting in member's section only.

This is a case of message sent != message received. Thanks for clarifying.

Ironically, thanks to this exchange, I've clocked a few more posts towards 10.

    Peace out.

This clause implies that I will not be able to post new threads or reply to existing threads in Garage until I have 10 posts in the specified forums. It does not mention that I will not be able to post new threads or reply to existing threads in any other forum.

If the policy is that new members will only be able to reply to existing threads in those specified forums for their first 10 posts, I didn't get it from reading the above. If there is another relevant clause, I must have missed it. Please point me to it.

By the way I am not here to start a war of words with the admins/mods or question their correctness/authority. I am merely sharing the confusion (and a bit of frustration) that a new member experienced. It would be nice if the next new member doesn't have to experience the same.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all at SRC! Cheers!

I have read the said threads.

ii) To encourage members to share information and knowledge, the garage is open to members who have contributed a minimum of 10 posts by posting replies in existing threads in non garage sections ( watch gallery, lifestyle/entertainment & members corner ONLY ) of the forum in order to have privileges to post reply/thread in garage sections.

Kindly note that though you have achieve the post count, there is a turn around time up to 24 hours for system to upgrade your status from moderated user.
