I had the priviledge of handling it, and I must say, its a damm nice watch. One unique feature was the bezel. Its a layer of sapphire bonded to the bezel, rendering it scratch-resistant. Overall, a nice size & heft to it.

i could be wrong...but i believe Blancpain's 50 Fathoms was the diving watch that was used as a benchmark for many watch companies back in 1700-1800 era. Blancpain ceased operations in 1900s, revived in 1980s and bought over by Swatch Grp in 2000.Originally posted by ghost View PostBeen reading a lil bout the blancpain fifty fathoms...apparently came out around same time as the submariner..some even say it preceded it. Regardless, it is a beautiful watch in its own right.

Any idea how much one of these bad boys cost?

Blancpain's trilogy collection (air command flyback chrono), discon, is equally popular..retailed then around $15K..BP's Leman series also nice... price bracket also ard that range

 cheers

Never owned a Blanpain before but certainly think they make some great watches. Resale value don't seem too good though so be prepared to lose quite a bit should you decide to let go of pieces bought new ...
