I've always had a soft spot for JLCs... I think they are one of the under appreciated brands around. They produce great movements and wonderful complications. I believe they are still a supplier of movements to top houses like AP and VC. JLC supplied their 8 days movement to Panerai until they got their own...

Then again, the "under appreciation" is also good... It usually means we can get decent prices for pre-owned pieces!

another downside to "under appreciation" is that there is little resale value.

No doubt about that... With my current experience so far, the two (some might argue 3) best makes for protecting value are Rolex, Panerai and (some say) Pateks. I personally have not had any experience with Pateks (given their stratospheric asking prices - both new and preowned). But would eventually love to own one - perhaps start with a 5167...

Btw, sorry if this is OT. :P

                              Hi,

Came across one piece at Vincent Watch, Tampines earlier. List price at $12,300. After discount is $9,225. Didn't bargain so discount may be more for those seriously interested.
