  • JLC Master Control Auto or Glashutte Senator Auto

Hi everyone, I have really got myself in a knot trying to choose between these two. Both pieces have met my broad criteria; I'm looking for a dress watch on leather not exceeding 40mm in a gold case.

I slightly prefer the dial of GO overall. I'm not a fan of the GO's hands but I would rather not have the date function/window on the JLC. To compound the dilemma, the JLC costs about $1000 singapore dollars or $800 usd over the GO.

I'm not sure if theres any "real value" difference between these two given their pedigree. Anything else anyone could point out to help differentiate between the two would be appreciated!

I am bias so JLC it is for me.

Between those two, the JLC has a more complete and classic dress watch look while the GO hands look out of place (which you yourself also imply) and lack of a second hand.

I have the S/S JLC Master Control. Like you, when I was searching for a simple, elegant dress watch, the JLC just caught my attention.

Having said that, the GO looks pretty cool. But if given a choice between these 2 today, would still opt for the JLC.

JLC is my pick as they boast that they have the largest movement vault.. for this reason, you can't go wrong.

JLC is a very under appreciated watch.

This GO looks gorgeous; its dial looks somehow more substantial (imo).
however I will still pick JLC. Its the watch for watchmakers! Beside this I prefer to have a date display and seconds hand.

Off topic. You may want to consider the jlc master ultra thin 41 or moon.

JLC, at least it has a date function ;-)

How about the GO Senator Auto updated version instead? With roman numerals and blued-steel poire-shaped hands, the look has gone more classical. And if you want the date, then look at the Senator Panorama Date.

                          hi to TS,

I went thru a long dress watch hunting season as well before eventually settling for the Lange Saxonia.

The JLC imo looks better in pictures than in real life, unfortunately. I actually quite like the look of the Senator in this case... I suggest you take a look at the VC Patrimony if the budget stretches there, or the H Moser Mayu.
