Using Kiwi neutral shoe polish to enhance gloss on straps?

I would like to enhance the gloss and shine on some of my panerai straps, especially the alligator ones. I was advised to use kiwi neutral shoe polish to achieve this. has anyone tried it and how's the results?

Dab a little on it first to see if it will cause any discoloration. This is especially true on light-coloured straps. For croco / aliigator ones, believe that there are specific leather care options for them. I would not switch them around personally.
