  • Issues with Pam 351?

    Hi All,

I am about to pull the trigger on Pam 351 but after reading on the forum, there seems to be some mechanical faults on this piece.

    Any feedback on this?

Pam 351/312/305/ and many more using p9000 movement. Hard to tell depending on your luck sometimes, so far my 312 no issues maybe not now, I hope not at all.

if there is problem with 351, then there is problem with the entire new pam models based on the new inhouse p9000 series of movement, eg 312, 305, 329, 388, etc etc
truth is, these are selling like hot cakes and the retail price keep going up every 6months
This is feedback by some owners in the forum.
Hope it is just some bad examples

Hi maybe if u could elaborate on the feedback and the kind of problems that u have read. I own a 351 for 4 years and dun have any problems with the watch but would be nice to understand so we all can share some observations which most of us may not notice

My M series 351 still going going. Power reserve holding strong...3 days easily...

Agree that if 351 has problem, all other models with p.9000 movt will have the same problem.

My O series 351 just came back from the servicing centre.. it is because i changed the date after 10pm, hence it kind of mess up the date movement..

i was told we should not change our date manually when the time is between 10pm to 2am.

I was told that we should not change the date when the hour hand is within 10pm to 2am. Reason being the date is slowly changing during this period. This applied to all watches be it Panerai or not.

If I did not remember wrongly, p9000 movement date change is slow change so there is no issue with the above? At least when I own the 312 before that was the case?? Any expert to chime in??

Yah. That should not happen. P9000 movmt when u pull the crown to 2nd position it changes the hour like a gmt hand so it should not mess up the date. Anyway, I'm no expert also. Just sharing...

thats what the sales person told me.. not to change the date when the hour hand is between 10 to 2am.

he recommend to change the hour hand to 6am/pm first.. then change the date..

You mean your p90000 can do quick set date. This is good news, because my p90000 only can set date by turn the hour hand, by turn the hour hand how can I not change the date between 10 to 2 o'clock, if I use minute hand how can I not change date between 10 to 2 o'clock. P90000 works almost the same as Rolex GMT2C only no GMT hand. I very understand sales person told you, please may you try to change your p90000 date not at 10 or 2 o'clock.

so.. what i do now is that i will manually set the time to like 6pm.. make sure the watch is operating first..

and then i start to set the date.. just to make sure that the date change has not kicked in yet.. before i do the date change manually..
