Buying pre-own Rolex help...

DO you think when sending the watch to Rolex for verification, they will just check the movement only or alos check if the diamonds, gold bracelet are genuine (and not bogus)?

Yes, getting from local seller is definitely safer than getting from overseas... the pics i provided (half-gold model), is actually from local online seller, can see the stuff and go to rolex centre to verify ($75)...

Singapore is already one of the best places on the planet to buy rolex (some people say new zealand? But I didn't see anything when I was there last month).

Unless you are looking for something very rare (in which case neither its price, or the cost of flying there to see it, is a problem)...
I think it 's better to buy locally or when travelling overseas if from a reputable dealer.

Seriously.. i would advise you NOT to buy from yahoo auctions.... previously i ALMOST bought a daytona from some guy in indon... he claims that his is a authentic watch, etc, etc... i requested his bank account details so i can transfer. After which i did a search on his name, etc.. and found that other ppl has been scammed by him. So, my advise is, there's no free lunch in this world... if it's too good a deal, then it probably is... buy your Rolex from ADs to have a piece of mind bro...

wah so many questions.......

a1: no paper = no warranty cert .......similar to the pics u posted....fig 1 is current type of usa warranty cert.......fig 2 is older version (no longer in use)

a2: authenticate at rsc............yes can be done....but they dun issue u the same type of warranty paper..........it's another type of document stating the model number, serial number.....it's not the same as the warranty paper.....

a3: if u dun trust rolex centre....then trust who....? yes they open the case back to check the movement also....

a4: got service better than no service.....

a5: recommended is 5 years.........price depends on condition and how many parts to be replaced......typically 400+

a6: the bezel is solid 18k YG.......the jubilee bracelet's gold links are hollow......swapped with fake? i think it's possible......

thanks for this useful site, learnt about it from Rolex thread on HWZ.

Anyway I found some nice rolex on yahoo sg auctions. The seller have good review and can verify at Rolex center:

Q1: He mention no paper, this means no certificate correct (the one with coloourful Rolex word in the middle and with serial number and owner's name? Are papers shown in pictures below the possible type of certificate (ignore the watch)?

Q2: He mentioned this: "Can verify at Rolex Center (fee will be paid by buyer $75 each & new cert. will be issue)."

Does this means that a new cert issued by Rolex center, stating the serial number and my name as the new owner? Cert will be like which of the figure above?

Q3. Is verifying it at Rolex center fool-proof? Meaning they really open up the case and check in detail that the parts are genuine?

Q4. If the pre-own watch has undergo a major servicing at Rolex, is it a good thing?

Q5. How often do you send you Rolex for servicing? Expensive?

Q6. The model is half gold (Model no: 16233 & 69173), does it mean the gold portion are solid gold? Since the model has 10 diamonds on the dial, is it possible that the diamonds could be swapped with fake?
