I heard that in Singapore, the fine for each pirated VCD/DVD is $1000 if you're caught in possession....

Also recently I heard some horror stories about some ppl caught at causeway or 2nd link with pirated dvd recently and slapped with very hefty fine. And it better not be porno dvd man. That's not the scary part, apparently when you're caught, the customs will contact police immediately while you're still at customs, go to your home and search your premises for more pirated stuff. It's not funny man. I can't verify this but I'm never going to take the risk man.

my mate from KL told me that those in possession of pirated software got stopped at SLS and fined on the spot!

aiyah... if looking for blue movies, just go to tuas/geylang have already. I maken in food court also got CMM offer me and when i was at my factory, the CMM also come and offer myself and staff.

as for software just use torrents

but i do wonder if the pirated software is on my laptop, is it considered illigal by customs, since it was on my laptop to start with, furthermore the laptop was purchased in sg.

somemore my passport always got problems one, cannot read, so must go thru manual clearance, if carry too many disc wait kenna by customs and call police to turn up at my uncle's house or grandma's house

even my computer 99.997% pirated software (cept windows xp - no choice) also never check, coming in/out s'pore and even european countries.

as for counterfeit clothing, i also once had like 10x LV purse (oleh oleh) and straight thru customs in oz too. Of course there was a warning on possession blah blah blah, but still carry no worries.

erm yr company using any pirated microsoft software or not arr...?

i call microsoft and we split 50-50 after i collect the reward?

EU i once (by mistake) wore an amarni tie also no worries.

as for pirated software. personal use pirated, business use original , in business no difference if i use original, i just pass the cost onto consumers. , so the real loser in this aspect is the consumer, who got to pay for my license

But in all honestly, I recently started to turn my co software to open source (linux/openoffice/etc)

bro, you're wrong. seller and buyer are commiting a crime.

on the other hand, willing buyer willing seller. if seller not passing off fake as real, and buyer wants to buy, both willing parties. So if you ll, wallop both the seller and the buyer.
