Why Not Good to Reveal Your ROLEX Serial Numbers in Pictures on Internet?

Time and time I see people advising not to reveal the serial number of GUARANTEE cards or the watch itself showing the rehaut serial number on Internet postings and pictures.

Why ?

For those Bros newbie to ROLEX, late Z series ROLEX onwards have serial number engraved as rehaut (at 6 o'clock)

Why dont you reveal your IC #? Passport #? D/L #? For the same reason. By doing so, the legitimate numbers can fall into the wrong hands.

That's exactly the issue. It would give you grief when it comes to the time you want to sell your own timepiece. If a buyer wants to verify your watch, it might be tagged as a fake!

think of the serial as the ID tag of your watch. you dont expose the IC#; so why do the same to the watch? afterall; im sure you wouldnt want your IC# to be used by the illegal bangala, etc. (nothing against the bangala; just using an extreme example!)

With the serial number engraved as rehaut (at 6 o'clock), the numbers can be easily seen and used by crooks (while they disguised as potential customer at AD) even before the watch been sold. Pray hard that we did not buy such watches.

whilst its impossible to stop counterfeiters getting real serials, why make their life any easier. make them do some legwork too

yes no measure is fool proof. but still need to deter to reduce crime.
