Some good and bad news to share.....a gentleman (Mr Baptistman) from Rolex forums announced that:
" As I stated in another post, Contacted Rolex St James London, Quote, The SD will not be discontinued as it is currently a strong market leader, the Deep Sea is not market tested as the SD and a different watch. It will run alongside the Deepsea for the foresseable future"

    The link: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?p=535711
...and in fact it will continue to be produced with the Deep Sea.

I think this theory does not apply to Patek 5970 if you can get a new one from your AD...

for me, DON'T think of making money on consumer goods, unless you buying used (at proper prices).

Then fear not because retail prices keep rising due to inflation and this brings up the second hand market as well, esp for sport models like the SD.

If you don't want your watch to depreciate too much or to avoid depreciation, go and get a second hand watch (at the right price). For Rolex (sport models) and PP (some models) will not depreciate, trust me...
hehehe that's what I do I buy preowned
