My suggestion would be Rolex sporty model for you (e.g. Sub, Explorer 1 or 2, Yacht-Master, etc.). You might wanna to consider the purpose you wanna to use it for? End of the day, juz go to the retail shop and try the watch first. Sometimes the watch will speak for you. One of the scenarios is when I put on the Sub, I knew immediately that this is the watch for me. Go with your heart.

+1 for the GMT. else if you are ok with preowned, can stretch budget slightly further.

edit: read your post again and noticed you only want new. just curious; why you insisting on new? superstitious reasons?

HG have charged me 10,062 after 15% discount for it. Would like to know whether the price is worth or if i could get cheaper anywhere else and what other models are there worth to consider. I only want to get a new one and datejust 2 is not my type. Thanks in advance.
Looks like there is a growing group of younger owners like me...haha...

Anyway...for your kinda budget you can consider...

Thanks everyone for such prompt replies! Yes I agree, should prob wait till after peak buying season is over. And I think you guys have confirmed for me that I should just go with a rolex. regarding 20% discount, I have yet to encounter any AD that will give me that as I am a new buyer, but I have yet to check out Lucky Plaza etc...so far they wont give the extra 3% for cash either! Maybe I must walk in with slippers and t-shirt...haha

Long post but let me try to 'satisfy' you, madame..

    Hey guys!

I know u don't get a lot of ladies posting here - but I have some genuine questions to ask and I believe you guys are real experienced in the SG rolex world!

I'm hoping to treat myself to a nice watch after turning the big 3-0 and having my first child (congratz!) - and have been researching and trying on some rolexes.
I loved the Lady datejust in 2-tone with diamond markers and non-diamond fluted bezel but the list price of 14+k before discount of 15% is plain ridiculous, especially after the recent price hike in Oct!
As such, I am considering either getting a simple SS lady oyster perpetual (I am actually into the simple, classic style) - which I can wear everyday as it is not too bling for work; given that it is also much much cheaper than the datejust! The datejust also means that it can only be worn on special occasions etc which makes it not so worth it...

My concern is, if I want to wait to decide - after my baby born etc (due in 2 weeks!) will the price of Rolex be likely to increase in Jan? (unlikely) I know none of us are able to predict; but I have read that they sometimes raise prices once or twice a yr, sometimes none at all? Also am I wrong to say that even if the prices now will somewhat stabilise, Rolex prices are unlikely to come down ever? (yes, it will not come down) especially for the popular pieces like datejust.

Also, I've read that rolex are going to reduce their discounts gradually? (yes, again) or will it be suddenly! (no) although as some of you have mentioned people are still going to buy them with or without discounts! esp the ones who buy the presidents and bling for the sake of wearing a gold rolex!

I just feel that if I am going to be spending a few thousand for an oyster perpetual I might as well add more to get the datejust, cos who knows in a few yrs the price of the datejust may be even more ridiculous! (you are right)

Bottom line is - buy now or think abt it?? and if buying, should I get the more expensive one anyway since prices wont ever come down?? (buy now; think longer, pay higher, and buy what you like, not what is more worthy)

Other option is a JLC reverso - like that it is quite "under the radar" brand.
Don't like omega constellation or the cartiers (IMO cartiers are jewellery makers not watch makers - no offence to those with cartier watches!)
An just to rant: why doesnt IWC make ladies watches?? haha...I am in love with the IWC pilots but too big for my wrist! Also IWC prices arent as crazy.

SOrry for the "cheong hey" post but hey, ladies speak 5 times more words than men! (that's normal )
Thanks so much for any advice I can get!!

    Happy shopping..

For ladies there are 26mm, 31mm, 35mm Oyster Perpertual and DATEJUST TT to choose from. Of course there is a 41mm DATEJUST 2 but IMO is too big for ladies.

Enjoy your hunt :-) For TT siscount I think 20% can get (may be wrong as long time never go down AD already as I get from grey sellers nowadays)

Price maybe will not be increased, but do bear in mind, dec - feb = retailers best time of the year, with x'mas, and chinese new year being the highlights.
so discounts may be pretty standard (and if i dare say: limited). its possible if you choose a quieter time to buy your new watch, the discount given may be slightly higher.
