As noted elsewhere beware credit card costs as they can make a big difference and NEVER pay in Singapore dollars when overseas. Always select their own currency otherwise can be fleeced again. Also check the type of tax refund available as there is a huge difference between different schemes in the UK at least. Some refund almost all , others remove 5% or so which can be significant. My rule of thumb is that I need to be saving 15 to 20% before the risk of overseas purchases outweighs the benefits and once you total all the exchange rates, fees, etc. that may be a challenge...

I recommend you contact the ADs before coming out. I emailed and called about 15 of them in different cities I was traveling to looking for a BLNR. None of them had it at the time, but finally I had one in Zurich, SW respond and they held it for me following a wire transfer deposit. With the US-Swiss exchange rate being more favorable than the Euro, plus the 8% VAT refund, it was a very good price.

I am not really sure but the saving due to tax rebate 12% at Heathrow is quite substantial. Just bought YM in June.

Thinking of going to London to get a brand new sub/GMT? Cheap Brexit GBP?

All great ideas.. except all sports (stainless steel) models, have a 3-6 month waiting list at all ADs (even outskirts of London). There are as many as 2-3 who have paid deposits at each branch too..
