  • Date Just vs Day Date

    Hi Guys...

I'm thinking of getting my first rolex and been surfing around and reading a lot of information on Rolex.

I managed to shortlist my favorite pieces to date just and daydate.

I'm a serious newbie and the most expensive watch I own is a $900 cerutti...
So before I set my hopes too high.

I'm comfortable with a budget of $5,000. Can that get me a new piece?
Or I need to be looking at pre owned?

for sure, cant get a day date at your budget

    $5000 will be good for pre-owned 16234, 116600 .......

Look around the variants of DateJust models 116200, 116234. I think 5K should be good for a good, pre-owned piece.

Ya.. I don't have a big budget for this. Haha.
So I guess pre owned is the way to my first rolex.

How do I read all the number code you guys are saying? I went on rolex website and can't find those codes... I google it and a bunch of different models appear!

Buying rolex is so cheem! Must study man

1803 without bracelet is still available with his budget but personally dislike the plastic crystal & the day adjustment mechanism that all .....so if do alot of researches first before you decide yours whitezone b it a day/date or date just....as the fun is in the hunt ! you learn the most as u "hunt"

get which ever appeals to you

the fun ends when u find it !

and a new search begins !

                Sounds poisonous!

Anyway... I've shortlist down to date just!
Anyone know a bnib piece would cost how much? (just for reference)...

I saw some at people park... Seems like different strap design and other details will end up with tons of code... Even if the watch looks really identical!

Sorry I'm really new.... Can advise this model, any diff with the new ones I see on website now?

A reasonable day-date 18238 with bracelet would costs you more than 11k+. I think your aim to get the first rollie - datejust is good to fit your budget of 5k. You can probably get a 116200 around your budget. Good luck in your hunt.

I trust the DD could be a home watch but still wearing it to wash car, etc may invite scratches on the bling bling watch though. If you are wearing it tight fit, the stretch will be reduced but I believe you will put on a strap right?

For this Daydate, i wont put strap, will wear with the gold bracelet.

I wont treat it like a bling watch.
I see my other friend, an old man who wears it basically for everything, quite cool.
                        His is with diamonds.

How come wear tight fitting can reduce stretch, bro?
I think that wearing the watch tight does reducing the constant moving of the bracelet that increase stretch.

perhaps the key is to wear it just nice.
Thats what i do with my gold GMT. Wear it just nice.
no gaps but definitely not tight.
Hi bro, What I meant was it should not be worn too loosely (watch rotating around your wrist) or too tight (hand turns purple due to lack of blood circulation). Hence, I used the word "tight fit" lah. Wear it just nice should be good; just like what you are wearing now. It should minimize stretching of the bracelet.

I somehow find the sizing of the new oyster and president bracelet different due to the link size or maybe it is just me. LOL.

Enjoy washing your car with the DD or just use your GMT2c gold rollie lah.
