Recently I also tried leather straps on Rolex sport models just for the hack of it. They do look nice. Kinda different from the everyday fair. But somehow, occasionally bothered with the missing SEL.

some diving watches looks good on third party rubber straps
eg rolex deepsea on a rubber B strap
looks better than the original rolex bracelet

for your point 1, i find that it makes the watch look very sporty and rugged (but not cheap)

    QUOTE]

I think fabric-like material straps make a watch look more sporty and rug. Examples are like those that are strapped onto the 2012 new IWC pilot models. they will look good on my GMTllc.. still trying to find a suitable strap.

i actually don't like the look of watches changed to other straps different from default straps (link to rubber, link to nato etc)......i prefer the original default looks.
i am fine with pam with various color straps as long as they remain leather straps.

Not to anger any nato fans, this is my personal opinion.

i don't really like the look of Rolex or any high end watches on nato & zulu strap.
1st, it makes the watch looks cheap and
2nd, the excess strap that is tucked back (at 12 oclock)
