    Hi wean. I'm very much interested to get the daytona. Which part of japan? And I did a count based on current yen. It's around 15k sgd.

    Search here and you should get the information. The "alphanumeric series" refer to a set of serial numbers for the newer ROLEX watches. This combination of serial numbers surfaced after the 'V' series and before the 'G' series came about.

    Bros... anyone can tell me what is "Alphanumeric series" for rolex watches?

    I asked about this SS Daytona from a local dealer and was told that the watch is of Alphanumeric series which supposedly is a series that squeeze between two series. Is that right?

    Cheers...

    IMHO, I think pirority should lean towards the SS 116520 Black. Simply put, this model is always in demand. Hence, often selling at premium price. The rest can wait a little longer.

    Most importantly you must buy what you love and wear it with a smile.

    And yes, you can claim back the 7% Goods & Services Tax at the airport while leaving the country.

    Cheers!

    no worries Shibanban, this is a very friendly forum.

    SS = stainless steel
    TT = Two tone, ie, half gold or SS + yellow gold
    YG = Yellow Gold
    Wg = White gold
    RG = Rose Gold

    Feel free to ask anytime when you need help. I am sure the other members will help with any reasonable request.

As a result, many young Japanese professionals also jumped on the bandwagon to get one to indirectly tell people that they are affiliated to the triads....sort of like telling you don't play play with me.....Then, the price of the SS Daytona was already at a very high premium (about S$18k) and I told myself I must be either stupid or crazy to buy it.

    However, fast forward to 2003. I bought the YG Daytona because I still don't believe in paying a ridiculous premium for the SS. But after 11 years, I still could not believe that the SS price still did not come down. Along the way, I always envy those owners who has the SS version. It's such a handsome and understated watch and I am not getting the same satisfaction from my YG daytona even though it was more expensive! In 2006, I had to have the SS Daytona white face and paid for it. To this day, it's still one of my favorite watch.

    Thus, whether it's SS, TT, YG, WG or RG Daytona, it's not about what other people think, but what you can afford and what really turns you on.

    The TT Blue dial Daytona is indeed a stunning watch, but I prefer mine low key and understated without attracting unwanted attention except from Datona's fans.
