Will the SD 116600 be discontinued and replaced by this new 43mm model?

Normally, when a particular ROLEX watch model is "discontinued", the only (unofficial) way to determine this is that the company would take away that model from their website. So, one of the indicators is that information about that model is no longer available in the company's official website.

The other indicator is the common understanding that once a new model comes out/is released, the older version of that model will no longer be produced by the company. This practice seems similar across most, if not all, luxury watch brands, and not just ROLEX.

But do be aware of "hearsays" by some ADs, even grey dealers and salespersons. There had been instances where watch models that were not discontinued, were "claimed" to be by the ADs, and others. Even the salesperson in a watch brand boutique could spread such false information

Thus, in response to your question, it is highly likely that the Seadweller 4000 (116600) had been discontinued.

For sure the SdC (116600) is officially discontinued. But thats not the interesting "hearsays". The interesting one is the fact that the new RSd (126600) is gonna be s short limited production in red lettering before Rolex change it to white lettering.

Same story with the Dblue when it was released in August 2014 and coming 3 years later, it's still in the inventory under the 116660 with dial options.

Think in the history of ceramic models (for sure) or all models (maybe), the SdC is the shortest production ever. Introduced in Basel March 2014 and discontinued in Basel March 2017. That's 3 years for Rolex to aknowledge that the SdC 116600 was not gonna make it.

But since it holds the shortest ever produced model, question is...will the SdC 116600 now be a collectable since the production numbers are definitely smaller?

if it is collectible, it will fly off the shelves. however, there are still stock in most AD. only time will tell if it will be collectible, it may take time like 20 years later when someone say this is an iconic piece.

i will rather take my bet on a daytona.

Same can be said with the 1655. Was a slow hitter (no doubt it takes years before it became a sensation) but...it was produced for a good 13 years where else the 116600 for 3 years.

I take my bet with the Daytona too.

Nobody can tell u how Long u need to wait. It's just like asking someone when u will strike ToTo big? If ur pocket deep enough, there is someone selling t $21,888. If u waiting for discount price, just keep on waiting....
