  • Datejust - black or silver?

Excited that I finally got the CEO approval for pulling the trigger for my first Rolex and finally decided to go for the datejust - small wrist and already have a Pelagos, plus the classic seems to have a better discount.

However I'm in a dilemma now - I was pretty certain that I'll like the silver dial datejust, till I saw the roulette dates wheel on black dial! Been trying them since but still undecided so far. Any opinions which might be better or fit my skin Colour better?

I think both dial colors suit your skin tone. By the way, what color is your Pelagos? You may consider to have a different dial color for this coming purchase based on what you already have? Both the black and silver are nice on its own merit. Black looks sportier.

Datejust started out with red dates, so technically speaking wouldn't Classic be going for the red dates? Haha

My Pelagos is in black, the first version.

I Guess the common view is silver over black?

Silver of course. Looks very striking. It screams "ROLEX"

Black version look very ah pek. Silver looks very classy and can go well with any attire.

If your budget allows, you can consider a half gold date just. Easier to sell or trade in future incase you decide to upgrade to sport series.

IMO, the black dial with oyster bracelet is more versatile. The jubilee bracelet is more classy. So I think it depends on what is your life style. Can't go wrong with either watch, so just Choose one that suit your lifestyle.

                      p/s : I have a pelagos too.

As a general "rule", when you have a fair complexion, go for a darker dial. The contrast is more obvious.

for DJ models, silver is the better choice. it looks more classic and versatile.

for sports models, black is the preferred choice. it looks more sporty and elegant.
