        End result coming....

When you make any product, it’s preferred to organize your tools and materials.

You may use an old wooden box, drill holes on its sides for the respective tools.

stay tune for the grand finale

        cheers!

This is my last homemade tool I’ll show… the rest of the tools are secret

Here’s a slicker I made from a BBQ skewer handle. I had this turned to cut a 5mm groove that’ll accommodate the strap thickness.

Using this tool, a leather craftsman polishes (dresses) the edges of a watch strap… circled in red

From rough edges… to edges that’s smooth with glaze (gloss). On a side note, just to correct some previous spelling error, the word is ‘gloss’ and not “gross” as some people posted.

My first ever completed 24mm leather watch strap with black and bronze stitching. This is after the first 17 unsuccessful attempts which all went into the trash bin.

Here’s one in Nubuck leather with green accent stitching on my Lum-Tec V1 watch

This one is made from calf leather…treated with silicon-free nano-particles for water resistance

So don’t fret folks. You can make yourself a simple strap by being patient and some pre-planning. Certain processes are time consuming but overall you can do it without breaking a sweat (compared to making my boxes). There are so many tutorials on the net to learn from. Now I know why there are already 130 plus “handcrafted” strap-makers and more to come.

Note: Since designing and making watch boxes, trays, strap holders and pouches are still my forte, strap-making will be done at my own free-time. BTW, some of my handmade straps will be displayed at Watchwerkz, Singapore Shopping Center, for your convenience. Contact Ms. Yan.

            Cheers folks!

This latest project really made me very nervous…

It’s not because I don’t know how to handle different materials but it’s the thought of the one-shot I got. Jialat if anything goes wrong! I don’t have any “spares” !!!

                    Luckily all went well... pheeeww!

I believe money can't buy everything right? It's the sense of satisfaction of doing it yourself aka DIY. It's not MIC (Made in China) but MBO (Made by Ownself)
