i don't think there is a cheap Rolex but i would recommend a no-date Sub as an entry model. It's much more rugged vs a datejust, much more interesting because of the ceramic and the Oyster bracelet is basically the best steel bracelet out there.

The datejust with the blue dial and romans character looks perfect!

I wouldn't consider daytona/submariner as "cheap range", unless one has deep pockets?
Rolex watches are well known to be of high quality/durability & excellent timekeepers, so be it an Air-King/Oyster Perpetual, which are entry models in steel, they still don't come cheap for a brand new piece(S$6K+)

IMHO...go with the watch that you like and feel good wearing. Regardless of residual value and resale value, it is something you should enjoy....cheers.

Go with your own preference. When you pass it down to your next gen. who knows
what will come out of it.

Rolex 6694 is the best option for you. Black dial with gold hour marker baton.
