this is a 1 year old thread...!

i changed the crystal on my watch a few months ago because it was very close to being totally shattered.

sapphire crystal replacement is $460 at RSC - half the price of an RSC overhaul... i didn't overhaul my watch because it had been done only 2 years ago.

i would live with a few tiny scratches or small nibbles on the edges until it's time for an overhaul... or maybe buy a genuine replacement for ~US$200 and go to a watch tech (SG$30-$50) - the old crystal can still be sold for US$50-$70.

my 2mths old batman suffered from shattered crystal and RSC quoted me about 1.2k for replacing the crystal and overhaul. is there anywhere else where i could do it well at a much better price? i've called afew places and they said they do not have the original crystal with the etching?

Batman is still very new, why need overhaul ?

Replacement crystal from RSC will come with etching with "S".

well, they said the broken crystal shards may get into the movement through the date so an overhaul will be recommended.

anywhere else where i am able to replace the crystal with etching without the "S"?

I have had success with Diamond lapping paste on sapphire crystal.

                          Buffed out the scratch.
