Or put another way, some shops give additional discount if you pay cash as they don't need to pay the 1% or 2% for credit card transactions. At the end of the day, instalments will help those who not so comfortable to part with huge amount of cash upfront. In exchange for the instalment service, you pay a bit more (i.e. less discount) but at least you get to enjoy your watch sooner rather than waiting to save up that $15-$20k...

It is not about confirming the information. The ADs can/not still give discount whether the payment is in installment or not. Often though, the ADs aren't willing to give discount for such payments as there is a certain amount of bank admin fee that the ADs will need to borne for installment payments.
