  • Recommendations for Budget Amplifier/Sound System?

I am looking for my father something around S$500.
He says he wants good sound as main use is CD and Radio but I will not be surprise if he hooks it up to his TV. To be used in his bedroom beside his bed.
    Any recommendations? Bose?
    TIA!

Sorry, Bose is not budget . At $500, you can get those all integrated sets eg Sony , Samsung or Philips . Else you may want to look a preowned .

match it with a Marantz cd63 you will not go wrong ....just my 5 cents worth.

If he has a CD player already, maybe you can delight him by getting a tube amplifier. I think you can get a used one for around $600-800 at xtremeplace.com or echoloft.com

My vote goes to Yamaha too...

Else, if he's got an ipod with all the songs imported into it, the Marshall Stanmore is both a good looker and a decent buy around this price if you import straight from the US.
