I read somewhere that you should not place receipts inside your wallet. This is because reciepts means you've paid for something and you are parting away your money.

So we should generally avoid buying someone else's wallet? As it may bring along its previous owner's luck?

some old wives tales here (across various cultures)
a. color should suit you
b. Wallet given (or taken) as a gift have an impact
c. your financial state when buying a wallet has an impact - e.g. wallet bought over one's means genrally has a negative impact
d. even when retiring a wallet always leave something in it (never empty)

That's interesting.
Makes joining this thread rather worth it, reading about all this.
Fengshui = related to earth science and have basis in how the wind, water and light can affect one's body.
Anyone with more to share?

I read up on a few fengshui books but there was never any reference to 'wallet fengshui"
it is all about auspicious numbers, facing and placement of furniture, direction and facing of your property etc.
In Hong Kong, it is a very big thing.
