bro, if u want to input yr own ring tone like a segment of music, u have to convert the tune to an iPhone format. I go find the detail steps and post it here. Haven't done so myself as been ba and wide take my phone at nite to listen to music to sleep.

The ipod touch was lauched together with iphone 2G. iphone 3G is the upgrade for iphone 2G. So the phone feature was not an upgrade. Countries like Singapore NEVER get the iphone but only getting the ipod touch instead in the beginning. I gues we are the "third country" in term of IT.

WHat colour did u get?? I got white. Mind sharing what is your first 5 digit of yr serial number? Mine is 88833.
For brothers intending to get the iphone, try to request for the serial number beginning with 88833xxxxxx. There are 87833 and 86833 serial number which denotes different factory plant. From HWZ, I've found out along with the other users that so far batch 88833 has better whiter LCD lighting than yellow (warm white). Another is that there are so far NO reports on LCD light leakage from this batch.. just an advice. You can demand it since you are the buyer.. hope that helps...
Just check my Serial no.888338xxxxxx. Find the screen not as white as my Ipod Touch but really not a problem as its not not so glaring at bedtime, haha..

I know where you are coming from 116520.. who knows.. the 3rd release maybe? hahah
Its true if I were in yr shoes, I will seriously find the lack of a 3G video conference call a major disappointment! On the bright side, you get to save money and head aches in learning to play and getting around the 'flaws' of an iphone.. FOR NOW...

There are two type of ppl who jumps enthusiatically onto the iphone band wagon. 1 ) Know the product, appreciate what the product has to offer and gets the product. 2) Go for the fab or trend.
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with either type of ppl. THe difference is ppl who are catagorised as (1) will not get disappointed while those profile fitting (2) will definitely complain after buying cursing and swearing.
What is 3G?? Its up to everybody's interpretation what 3G has to offer.. The iphone did not mentioned that it COVERS all conceivable 3G applications. Like SE m600i! It is 3G but doesn't support 3G voice call.. Same for the iphone, does 3G fails as a product in iphone? NO! It was designed to allow QUICK access to the WWW, downloading emails, movies and heaps load internet based applications offered on a faster wireless platform. Video call is only 1 of the many application and functionality of 3G... it is not the sole purpose. US, KOR, JAP and to those who applies uses alot of 3G on the go! Whether is it to surf the internet (Its now the age of time where PPL are always surfing the web ON THE GO), emailing, it personally fits me like a glove as I always am surfing and doing mails whereever possible.
iphone also has the MEANEST and UNDISPUTED state of the art TOUCH screen operations. HUGE MNCs like Samsung, HTC, LG all tried and make feeble attempts, came and got blown away. NOBODY can match the functionality of what an iphone offers whether is it the 2G or 3G... Gosh even the itouch. Its accuracy, user-friendliness is something those who played around the numerous devices in the market can never match to those offered on an apple device.
The accelerometer is another feature that the internal gyroscope is able to accurately translate the positioning of the phone to translate that onto the phone display. And best of all, the transition is smooth compared to the feeble attemps of its closest competitior. Try playing a game which allows you to steer the iphone like a steering wheel...... another perks of its accelerometer technology translation into the programs that it operates. Its seemless....
Its a state of the art technology, on a phone that those who appreicates would be wow-ed and impressed! Those who are well prepared of the "flaws" like lack of bluetooth data transfer capability (you have to know why this is lacking.. its bcos of the close working between apple and music company to curb software piracy... allowing bluetooth transfer would definitely promote piracy), MMS ( i would rather email any picture out on 3G with definitely higher definition of pic quality.) In fact, I've never really use an MMS or 3G video call in my life... its just a good to have but the sole purpose of my phone as a mobile office, entertainer (www or gaming) and communication is suffice in an iphone for me! I will however not deny that I am disappointed at the lack of bluetooth data transfer on the iphone but its just mean I have to find ways around it..
My lengthy post is NOT meant to put down those who don't find the iphone something worth shouting about.. if you are offended, I m truly sorry as its not my intention. Having an Engineering background (analytical side of me, although I am running my own biz now totally non-engineering related...) I appreicate the technology and what the phone is set out to accomplish. So I am just sharing my piece of opinion.
Like all the wise word of wisdom goes... "Whatever floats yr boat" and "Different strokes for different folks"... iphone is DEFINITELY NOT for everyone.... it is only meant to those who loves technology at its best in what it has to offer...
Peace!

You have your points here to support why iphone is so sucessful all over the world.
On the other hand, the reason why I bought my 1st 3G phone 2 years ago was because I can video call with my daughter.
True, since you can email pictures, there is no point sending MMS. On the other hand again, sending a picture via email is not as simple as sending MMS over a phone.
Also, I can do ALL the things you mentioned below with my laptop and I still prefer to do it with my laptop as it has a bigger screen, better keyboard, better battery life, better storage, better sound, etc...
A phone is still a phone, the main purpose is to call someone, either voice or video call.... just my2cents.... cheers!
