I've read that the new 3G won't be built as 'solid' as the current 2G phones without the 'scratch proof' glass and the casing will be more plastic. I hope that discounting the physical feel of the new 3G, they will beef up the "User Experience" of this phone with more phone based features that support what the 2G now depends on third-party software.

Chong.. is typing on the touch-screen a pain in the ass???
So far based on feedback, the screen color seems not as crisp and nice as the 2G version. There is not mention about it being not 'scratch-proof'. I believe it is still similar in make to the 2G version. Big difference though is that it is cheaper to fix the screen with the new model. Previously, you had to change the whole screen if the touch function stopped working. In the 3G model, they have modularized the screen meaning you can just replace the faulty part without having to change the whole thing.

As for the virtual keyboard, I personally have gotten used to it and can type pretty quickly and accurately. I suppose it is a matter of getting used to.

I am now just waiting for my Stinktel contract to expire in Sept before jumping ship to Starhub to get the 3G (hopefully it will be sold by all telcos by then).

Anyway, I am looking forward to the 3G version. Besides, my wife also eyeing my current iPhone!

Brand new is selling for $1018 w/o contract. Seems like sold out also. I believe all our mobile telcos are selling @ $698 with contract. Heard also no stock. The stock situation might work in your favour! Just tell your wife, "boh huay"!
