For me and only my two cent worth of opinion...A branded Shoe had to feel comfortable and that BRAND had to be on the shoes..if the brand is not there to be honest I will not wanna buy it....to me its like buying rolex without the crown and buying Benz without the logo or eating Char Kway Teow without the Hum..lolz
If you're buying a watch, you would buy one from a reputable watch making company, or at least a company that at least specializes in watches. Would you buy an expensive watch from Oakleys or Ray Ban just because they make good eyewear?
Same for shoes. Some of companies marketing shoes are fashion/apparel brands, because it makes sense to do so - shoes form part of a person's wardrobe. However, as with the clothes you wear, your shoes must be comfortable. How well would a pair of shoes made by a fashion/apparel company serve you if it bites your feet or gives you blisters, despite the high price that is mainly attributed to the branding?
It is important to have a good fitting and comfortable pair of shoes because if you don't, you will suffer - your feet will ache, the shock transferred from your feet as you take steps, to your lower body all the way up the spine could affect your back and posture. That would be an extremely high price to pay for a pricely pair of shoes (pun intended )
For me, comfort and shock absorption is crucial. My leather shoes are Johnston Murphy, Cole Haan (which Nike has acquired and incorporated its Air Sole technology into some of the Cole Haan line), Rockport, Hush Puppies, Florsheim. I would like to try Allen Edmonds, but I am not willing to order online as I don't want to risk getting the wrong size/fit.
Don't chase the brand/fashion, focus on the purpose.
