  • Kidnapped and murdered

    Wah liao!

I just found out from my dear wife that one of her long time friends (who worked here in Singapore but retired to Malaysia) she used to work with over 20 years ago was kidnapped a few days ago.

His body was found earlier today. I believe he was strangled and discovered somewhere in Kelantan (I think she said?) even whilst his wife was still negotiating with the kidnappers on the amount of ransom to be paid.

I didn't know him personally but he knew about me and my wife setting up a business in Malaysia a few years ago and told us his concern for our safety.

    May you rest in peace.

It's nv safe in Malaysia. Guess it's time people keep a distance from Malaysia.

May the dead rest in peace.

WTF!? My uncle was robbed/shot at in m'sia too many years back.

Its a nice place if all goes well; but it can also turn into your worst nightmare if things turn for the worst. To be honest; I have heard of too many stories where people are robbed/kidnapped/etc in m'sia. Which is why when i go in; i will always dress down, and take precautions of my own safety.

May your wife's friend rest in peace!!

I think all countries the same not just Malaysia la....

Was in Australia seen many incidents of racist attacks
When in states never step into the back lane esp u are a Asian, u get stab without knowing why
Was in Bangkok be careful of those back street AGO AGO bar , fren was gun pointed inside the pub
Was in Jakarta had a fight with a local pickpocket
When i was in South Africa, walking down the streets was thrown some obscene words by the Blacks

          and then so....so....so....

Just be careful and be wary as we are born here and alw assume other places are safe like Singapore.

Even in Singapore walking down Kallang also can get stabbed but then it was done by the 'oversea talents '

Every countries is safe or not safe depends on individual perspective, do not venture into quiet lanes, nor go clubbing ends at 3am when most ppl are intoxitated and violent. Do not jog along some forests when u know the 'colour wolves' are hunting.

Just a 3 cents advice... cheers

I have to agree with you on that. Quite true, many times, seen many drunk aussies at night looking for trouble. these days; tend to avoid those places too.

one colleague of mine got robbed in lor21 geylang by a local (not far from my office) .

as per usual; you are responsible for your own safety, and use common sense.

i remember when i went to back to take out money (geylang area); i took a bag, and left a flat nose plier in my pocket, and spanner inside the bag. be safe not sorry.

even in oz; i have a tyre lever, spanner, piler, etc in my door pocket. you never know when you will bump into a nut case; which proved to be handy when i was driving with a friend at 3am. almost got carjacked, luckily had my doors locked, and tools nearby incase i had to go all out.

Wow, sounds quite dangerous over there.

I lived in England for over 20 years and never had anything more than racial abuse from stupid cretins hurled at me. Nothing physical fortunately. That was in all parts of England that I lived; Manchester, Sheffield, Rotherham, Derby, Bristol and Welyn Garden City. A country with too many racists. So much so, the first chance I had to leave, I took it and immigrated to Singapore. Now life is peaceful!

Actually; i find its the indigenous people who usually love to give abuse/violence. Because of favourable gov't policies, these people have become very dependent on welfare, as such, they have way to much time on their hands without anything constructive to do.

As for white racism, there will always be the few who cannot accept others. One of them is an AD boss. Alot of people have boycotted their shop. And probably the most popular racist here down under would be pauline hanson, who herself is also an immigrant, yet she doesnt like immigrants. someone with a very narrow mind.
