interesting... my cuz just bought a 1.4 sirocco and i told him not to adhere to the ATF oil change as per log book but to change every 20k kms.

i have noticed that changing the ATF helps to increase the life of the gearbox. my (old) honda is still running 100kms on its factory oil (weekend car) . first thing im going to do when i get back to perth is drain/flush/refill the ATF.

Anyway, mine is over 30k and going to Mac vcs next week for regular servicing.

But juddering is still there!

The problem with the 7-spd box is mainly the clutch. It uses a dry clutch rather than a wet clutch. The 6-spd used in higher end models like the gti, r, use wet clutch.

My 2-year plus golf sport is already running on it's third clutch already. Been back to change twice. This clutch often results in clutch slips after a while. The wet clutch is able to take a heavier beating than the dry ones. I reckon they should've sent their cars to Bangkok to test rather than the wide open roads of the autobahn. Another commonly rotted problem is the "flashing 'D'" or "Flashing Death".

thats is what mercedes said with their autobox too. lifetime oil, and they went one step further, they actually sealed the trans oil so that you cannot open it up to check. many people would be pretty pissed to find out that the cause of the failure was not because the box was lousy, but rather the oil was just too dirty.

oils are cheap as chips to change, and to do a proper drain-flush-drain-flush-refill is not hard.

by the way, what grade engine/transmission oils do the sirocco use, i was recommending a full synthetic (ie. group 5 base stock oils from red line, not those mobil1 "fully syn" that is actually derived from group 3/4)

For engine oil there are the vw std 502 and 505. One is long life version.
Vcs uses castrol supposedly but during my 1st servicing, notice that they did not mentioned that they used castrol.

For dsg, I do not have the number as i go to workshop and they take care of everything.

Actually, I hardly ever drive in "s". Either manual or "d" only.

My jutting is finally resolved following a second clutch replacement and software upgrade. That was almost 10k ago. Now m ride is at the 74k mark.

The new GS is a very nice car.... they have finally removed the toyota look from the dashboard. in fact ive recommended my uncle to get the new GS. not sure whats the retail price in sg, but ill wait a few years until they become affordable in oz
