As long as lug to lug is within the limit of the wrist.
IMHO 40mm diameter and 47-48mm lug to lug is good in my case.

Tough question to answer for me. My watches range from 34mm to 42mm and i like them all. If i had to choose just one size, I think my sweet spot is about 39mm.
