It's not 'one-size-fits-all'. Firstly, it depends on the girl's wrist size. Some have bony-slim wrists, while some fleshy. The wrist bone structure will also differ from person to person. Secondly, not all 39mm case size watch wears the same. The shape, thickness and design of the case can and will determine if the watch wears comfortably on a particular girl's wrist.

For dress watches, I recall from a TV ptogramme it shlould not be be over 40mm. For other watches, my personal preference is 44 or 46mm. Otherwise they look too big on my 6.25 inch wrist.
