  • Dallas Buyers Club (2013)

you know when you watch a movie about terminal disease, especially when it is based on true events, the ending is often a sad one
but whats inspiring in this movie is the demonstration of the human fighting spirit, through the main character, Ron, brilliantly-played by Matthew McConaughey
the actor shed some 20kg for this role, but that's nothing compared to his terrific portrayal of a HIV patient who uses his wit, his agressiveness and his passion for life - to stay alive
for his efforts, McConaughey won the Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 86th Academy Awards
this master-class performance is well-supported by Jared Leto, who plays the tragic role of Rayon, Ron’s transversite business partner who brought purpose to his life, if not her own. Leto also won the Best Supporting Actor in the 86th Academy Awards.

it is McConaughey and Leto's powerful performances that made this story real, touching and inspiring.
i rate it 4 out of 5, watch it

I'd rate this as matthew's best movie yet, almost on par with MUD, which is another indie movie must watch!

            they really deserve their Oscars!
but the movie itself was pretty slow for me.

McConaughey's fabulous performance really brought out the character for his role this time. 4/5 from me.
