    Min Nan is abit different from Hokkien, maybe 10-20%. Generally, it's still understandable.

    Thanks for the input. I'm very comfortable in communicating in the Hokkien dialect . I suppose the accent is a little different from that is available in S.E Asia - the Penang / Singporean accent.

    English is not widely spoken but Min Nan hokkien & mandarin are widely used.
