haha... yea, i'm finding watch winders in the market slightly over wot i would agree to pay for. at the same time, have to choose the size/capacity of the winders by judgin the existin size of our collection. just thought it would be interestin to have a modular solution. sure! meet up soon!!

i'm lookin into rapid prototyping my own watch winder. maybe in modular forms so that i may add in future. just tryin to get all the ideas now...
Come, let's meet for kopi and share ideas about watch winders.
PM me bro!

DIY Watch Winder - Battery (DC) Version
So you've learnt the AC (Mains) Version of a watch winder, now try the DC (Battery) Version.
This circuit is a tried and tested circuit for the brave and daring. It will turn on the motor for a specific number of minutes and pauses the motor for a specific number of minutes. The ON and OFF times are not accurate due to the leakage during discharging of the Electrolytic capacitors. But what the heck rite... you want it cheap isn't it? Basically, you get what you pay for! A more accurate timing control would be via a microprocessor.
It's the simplest (and cheapest) circuit I've designed. The best part is... IT'S WORKING!!
cheers y'all,

At first I also thot its very chim but slowly slowly trace and trace circuit, then discover it can work!
Sorry people, my bad...
Deleted wrong .jpg. Here's the parts list again.
Wasn't thinking, injured my big toe and all the blood gushing so brains didn't have enough lah!
If anyone intends to build one perhaps next time I'll organize a DIY Watch Winder meetup
cheers!

Just a reminder, this is the AC version and the DC version is in my blog dated sometime in Oct 2009. Search for it and many other information about watch winders and how to built one yourself.
If you require a hands-on approach on a one-to-one basis, my consultation fee is $200
Or perhaps you need a customised vault with winders inside?!?!
cheers people!

Good schematic - for those electrical spare parts maybe attach a list so that they can source. otherwise, can sometimes ask chip companies for "samples"

DIY Watch Winder
This is for the brave and daring...
As mentioned in my DIY postings, I'm sharing alternative ways how you can DIY your own horology-related products. If you are unsure to built one yourslef, its best to purchase from several people who sells those items here.
Anyway, this circuit is very close to those AC Winders you find in the market except this one is able to adjust both the rotation and stoppage times.
Warning:-
1) This circuit involves HIGH VOLTAGES and I advice you not attempt it if unsure.
2) For those who know electronics, you can substitute RV1 & RV2 with a fixed resistor once you found the desired value. That is, the rotation & rest times.
For the DC version, I've already done it much earlier in my blog.
Have fun guys!
