  • Question on Manual Winding Watch

    Hi gurus,

I'm new to this mechanical watch thing as i've always been a quartz guy. i just bought myself a glycine incursore manual and would like to know how much do i wind the watch or when do i stop winding it?

is it common for the dial to spring back slightly after i release the dial after winding?

    Thank You!!

The spring back or recoil you experience when winding the watch is normal. It's a characteristic of the unitas 6498 and 6497 movements.

You can and should wind it full. Just keep winding till you cannot wind anymore. Just like when you wind up a winding toy. When it's fully wound, you won't be able to continue winding.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

Thank you for answering the question.

The spring back or recoil is it part of the mechanics of preventing a lock up of the spring?

i used to lock up winding toys when it's wound too much.

Just to check, any idea where one can buy glycine wrist bands?

Bro, roughly how many winds for 005? Will it break the coil?

Hi for PAM 005 roughly 60 to 80 winds If count correctly and it is rather hard to break the coil as once you wind till the crown locks you will stop and there is a spring back feel so u will know you need to stop winding... hope it helps. .

Yup it's unlikely you'll break the coil cos the coil is probably compressed. You'll probably break other parts if you force it beyond the full wind position. I counted it at 60+ winds for a full wind.
