104 is nice. only issue is the date cyclops. so i drool over 312 and 321.

no budget now... haiz. however sub date is one i must get in time.

like the suggestion of keeping 104 and get a sub date...

The sub date is a lovely watch. I once contemplated the 104 but eventually got the 05 cos of the unique logo and the mechanical winding movt. Needless to say, the sub date is now on my radar. Overseas pricing is very tempting.. look around heh.

I think this is a wise choice as the sub-date is one of the classics you won't want to miss out in your collection.

I decided to go for sub date. Will take my time to look for one.

Wish the ceramic ss sub date can come earlier... but won't be the pioneer

    Meanwhile new temptation...

    PAM 321
this one no cyclops ah? cool!

i like pams with no cyclops cos find their cyclops like very weird. one small dot like that.

different brands, different case design, different function of use.

in a rolex forum, it will be rolex over panerai any day.

however, you should base on your purchase with these in mind

    1) are you building a watch collecion? if yes, what is your ideal watch collection going to be

    2) why did you buy the 104 in the first place?

    3) do you buy and sell watches along the way so that you maintain possibly a basic core?

    4) why do you prefer the sub date currently?

if you have answers to the above, you will be more or less decided if you want to

    i) keep 104 and purchase a sub date
ii) trade the 104 for sub date
iii) sell the 104 and not buy the sub date.

It is really hard to decide and moreover, I think they could not be compared closely since both are very diff in design. For me, I'll use pricing for both to make my decision. Example, if both cost the same, say, $7.5k, then look at how worthy it is to spend on each one. Materials used such as bracelet vs leather; Sub mvmt vs pam mvmt, can be determinants.

I choose the Sub date over 104 as I like the Sub design and has a proven movement.

Both are nice watches just get the one that sings to you more. I would prefer the 104 over the sub date.
