I agree with bro watchpassionist's view that as mere forum members (i.e. neither administrator nor moderator) it is perfectly fine for us to sing and praise certain sellers or service providers repeatedly if we truely and strongly feel that they are very good.

I won't be too bothered if someone says I am bias because I promote the service of a very good vendor based on my own good experience. Of course if I get questioned if I am affiliated to those vendors as a result of that, I would clarify and not get offended.

you have asked me to share openly. however with reference to this thread i started earlier this month, towards the end of the post, i did mentioned, i would share through pm.

as usual, i have always shared my point of view on various issues. i dont particular highlight just one, because it would from other people perspective seem bias. further to that, i dont want other people to have the wrong impression that i have benefits from quoting them repeatedly. mentioning it once will be beneficial, mentioning it beyond once can sometimes turn the tables.

as mentioned previously, i have indicated that you did mentioned about other watch repairers in your first post. but you feel strongly about JW. this is fine. no one can say anything. but it can create a false impression thinking that you are their unofficial spokesperson and advertising for JW.

this is why as an administrator, i wont strongly share just one but a few and i also attempt to refrain from mentioning about a particular subject repeatedly in order not to create bias view. otherwise, there would be conflict of interest.

i can share my primarily contact, but he is a old family friend who has worked in one of the brand service centre and is now in one of the main AD servicing watches as well. he has indicated that he does not wish to take on my friend's watches to prevent misunderstanding.

a forum is meant to share and advise opinions. this is why i like and love this forum and i spend so much time here doing back-end together with IT support to bring additional benefits to this forum.

as of now, there is a link to couple of files particular image hosting sites each time you click on reply to thread. this is to facilitate sharing of pictures especially last week when imageshack decided to 'obscure' the image with a frog. however, now the pictures are now visible once an appropriate link is used.
I can understand your predicament bro, as an administrator you are right to maintain your neutral stand else readers will feel u are indeed advertising for them n being bias.
But as for me.... i am not an administrator nor moderator of this forum, so even if i did mentioned particular shops times n times over again, i dun think the readers will think i'm affiliated in a way to them. I can't basically be related to so many of them anyway.
I'm a watch passionist myself and a buyer , i do not need to do that too. I'm the one coming out with cash to buy their watches not the other way round.

As a normal person who is just a normal member here, pointing out some shops be it watch repairers, ADs, servicing centres or especially this sg-roc forum i 've commended regularly is purely my opinions expressed are personal like your signature disclaimer said. As it is my personal views, readers are smart enough to check it out and verdict it not monkey say monkey do .

Is great you have a family fren who does repair your watches.... but how many of us here as readers and members have wat you have? so i believe infos like wat i hv given in this thread will be gladly appreciated. I wanted to point out those shops who are very trustworthy so as to help the newbies from being conned. I did also repeated many times that bros here who have great services from any shops they know join me in sharing to the rest.

In fact even before my thread, passions, jwwatches, chuanwatches, are already household brands very well known among collectors and dealers all over the world. Ace-time is new with buyers , sellers flocking from overseas who trust them. Sin lian with a long history in pawning . New world watch have stayed decades at golden landmark.

Hope bro triton can read it from our points of views, i'm not bias. I am just stating true real facts.

For repair/servicing, of all the names mentioned by bro watchpassionist, I have only used JW before and I rate them above average. The reason of not rating them higher is that their lead time for repair/servicing is too long (min 12 weeks), even though many authorized service centres have equally or even longer waiting time (mainly for repairs). For me, besides pricing, waiting time is one key criteria of overall service level, and average 3 months of waiting time for servicing a watch is just too long.

But I will still use them if I am in no hurry to take back my watch, for their competitive pricing.

are we discussing about watch repairers or are we sharing information or both?

this is because from your posts, it seems that you want to share which watch repairers they should consider when their watch needs servicing. then again, this is a rolex forum, so placing it under rolex concierge service seems more of the logical choice than other watch brands.

The purpose of me mentioning this JW and few others is to share and help the new guys who have no clues in this jaws eat jaws world of watches. A few recommendations of names and shops will surely be appreciated by the newbies. If not will be chopped down to bones. The feedbacks to Jw does not come from me alone, many share the same views.

When i started watch collecting back in the early 90's, there is no internet like now, not so many books to read and learn, not many kind experts to share their knowleges to u. I and many others we learn from real experience and not virtually by google searching. We got bitten but then we learn from the mistakes.

Now tat we have 2 wonderful forums *** n sg-roc. Many new guys into watch collecting log on and oftenly read the threads here. You can basically gain many infos from this web and the main reasons behind are many ppl like us started certain threads to pass and share our experiences, knowleges, infos n true life encounters.

I just hope bro Triton as an administrator will understand the rationale behind all the postings and appreciate members who contributed to the success of this forum. Is just win-win for the readers and the ppl behind sg-roc.

I have recommended many members to JW,including my friends. None complain, but feedback to me service was good. Timely delivery...like what bro watchpassionist mentioned prices are reasonable too. So besides the service centres this is the other option i would recommend.
I'm sure u agree wat i said. Thx.

For pam190 i think Richemont do really take a much longer time anyway thanks for your advice
Richemont services i will not comment here but all authorised service centres does take a long time to work your watch. My APs send to AP centre for servicing and is already 2 months plus not ready yet, i dunno wat to say. So shd we send to authorised centres or 3rd parties? I too hate my watches to stay sick in hospital for too long.

He always try his best to deliver my watch asap without compromising on the quality of his workmanship - usually within 2 to 3 weeks max as he know i m the impatient type that hate to wait too long for my watches to return to my wrist....

He stand behind all watch services that he had done for me....as in within a reasonable time if anything goes awry,he fix for me for free..

That is my personal experience with my watch service guy...not a shill but just sharing my thoughts about watch servicing...

I usually shunned the authorised service centres as i m usually snubbed or badly treated or dun feel at ease there....luckily i am not not the really inhouse movement type of guy....

Rolex and the Various ETA movements are my cup of tea....and all that i can afford for now...

Sorry for the long rant...time for kopi !
Thats right bro. Trust is the correct word to use. U would'nt want leave your watch to a non trustable repairer and then original parts got swopped.

Anyway, it's your watch.. have fun!
Agree in a way... if thinking to sell one fine day then perceptions are authorised service centre the way to go. But then if your watch is not workin well now, get it repair soon by reputable shops with ease of minds. That saves few hundred bucks to 1k.....$$$$ savings is an important factors too.

Yes many independent watch makers, repairers are good. But truly the ones i specifically again and again mentioned has all the right tools, the environment, the temp settings, the test equipment all in his workshop. No outsouring to unknown parties.

I read some posts here and heard certain shops can even service, polish a watch within 3 days. Does that mean efficient or just phantom job anyhow? I will not send my watches to these shops either.

Been 'playing ' with watches for the past 20 years.......from my real life experience not hear hear rumours, JW watch is really good. For those who doubt me. Pls visit his shop and chat with Mr John. Watch send to him, he will ensure 100% job well done.
How many watch repairers in Singapore really fix your watch well, replace with original parts, provide warranties and then even called you to check the status of watch after you paid and collected?

I'm sure many bros who gave feedback to JW website sure knows who's are the real mcCoy shops and repairers locally
