  • Rolex DSSD pre owned

Hi, I saw a pre owned DSSD , only watch and no extra link , fit 7 inch wrist for only $8500. With some wear but a scratched on cyclops. Is it worth it?

      maybe he meant crystal.

rolex99: it depends. eg. how old is the watch?

The watch is 2011. And the scratch is on date font area, sorry. I mean crystal.

If I were you I would bring to RSC to authenticate? Price point is attractive for a DSSD though.

I would be suspicious as to why no links. What about box and papers/cards?

There are folks out here who sell watch only nothing wrong with that. If you are not a sure of the authenticty, request to deal after verification by RSC. Think it is highly recommneded as the replicas nowadays are getting better.

how do you know it's from 2011 if it doesn't have the warranty card? if it's an older watch needing a service, you may be better off looking for a newer watch with a valid warranty card - because if you price in the cost of a full service (with "wear and tear" parts replaced), the price will likely be very near a very new DSSD.

you might want to consider putting it on a watch timing machine to check its amplitude.

anything below 260 means... service sooner than later. 270-300 (or more) means still in an acceptable range. 300-310 is very healthy and definitely no work needed.

you need to check it in multiple positions and make sure the difference is not too wide (~25 degrees).

(naturally, there are quite a few things that can "sway" the results of this amplitude check, but a fully wound main spring + correct lift angle = about as good as it gets without opening the damn thing up for a visual inspection.

RSC will always tell you your watch needs servicing unless it is within warranty period. if so, then... they will tell you not necessary to service.)

you can also see what the beat error and the positional timing on the display - take a photo for your own reference. (it's like a medical report - good to have for "baseline" readings...)

beat error should be as close to 0.0ms as possible. lines displayed shouldn't be erratic, to say the least. the positions you want are:

crown up/down/left/right + dial up. a seller that stands by his word/product should not hesitate to show you the watch on a machine.
to summarize, 5 position timing with the proper lift angle input into machine: low/nil beat error, healthy amplitude = no service soon. if the price is good, i would feel better proceeding with such results.

info included above is for rolex only. other brands' movements may differ in specs/results.
