      In my opinion the older 5 digit sub will always be classic piece with more balanced dimensions. And more a true tool watch as it was originally meant to be. The newer 6 digit more a modern watch that looks more like a luxury piece. A more polished look with the ceramic. Ultimately it's down to your preference but for me, 5 digit all the way!

        I would prefer the former (Ref. 16610). I haven't really liked the case shape of the newer model.

          Pardon me, but you are very sure the clasp for the 16610 felt stronger

          Personally, I feel the newer clasp (and bracelet) is tougher than the older version. But whether it will last for two decades, hard to say. From the looks of it, and in comparison, I will feel more confidently that the new clasp should last longer.
