This is very old news already (that the RSC has stopped to verify watches). Yes, it is true.

You can consider JW Watches to verify. I last heard they charge about $107 for a Rolex watch authentication. Not sure if other watch shops/companies provide this service.

If buying from a 3rd Party PLEASE DO VERIFY the watch. Fakes today's are so difficult to spot.... they even fake the caliber !

I don't think the case-back is opened for verification during authentication. Have to check with the watch shop/company doing authentication.
