  • about that FS description... (polish = good/bad?)

"This luxurious timepiece had just been hand polished and restored to its original luster..."

"...Most importantly, no settings or alterations of any kind which lessen a watch's value has been done to this watch making it even more valuable."

(as quoted from some FS ads in the garage)

thought this would make for interesting discussion... i wonder what the other forum members feel about it...

i am always under the impression that almost any watch, once polished, loses some value...

personally i prefer a beat up watch that is untouched over one that looks pristine but has been polished/restored.

(although when i first began to collect watches, i wanted my watches to look as new as possible - these days this is not acceptable by me)

    what do you guys think?

From the first time I saw these ads by davidoff/amg/zegna/whomever, I have been thinking the exact same thing - doesn't make any sense to reconcile even a light polish with 'no alterations have been done'.
